Junior Achievement hosted an event this year to raise money for their organization, which seeks to help educate our younger generation in the subject of finances. This year, Bowater Credit Union raised $3,618.78 at the Junior Achievement Bowl for Education as well as earning the title of “Top Financial Institution” for the sixth year in a row.

For this fundraising event, Bowater Credit Union had five different teams participating and raising money for the organization through bowling. Aside from their excellent bowling skills, Bowater Credit Union also supports Junior Achievement in many other ways such as by sponsoring a booth at Reality Checks, sponsoring events like the upcoming Race to Achieve 5K, and by volunteering in the classrooms of our local schools to teach students about financial literacy.

Since 1919 Junior Achievement has worked to teach students about the reality of finances through in-school and after-school activities. They do this through dedicated volunteers who are given a guide but are encouraged to also use their own knowledge and experiences to help student comprehension with the tough topic. This is why partnerships with companies like Bowater Credit Union help.

Bowater Employees Credit Union is a federally insured credit union offering savings, checking, loans, and financial education to those who live, work, worship, or go to school in the counties of Bradley, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe, and Polk.  Bowater Credit Union has five branches, over 18,000 members, and $150 million in assets.  To learn more about Bowater Credit Union and its services, call 423-336-7268 or visit www.BowaterECU.org.
