JoAnne Rogers wins $1,000 for The Eastview Baptist Church Food Pantry from Bowater Credit Union

Credit Union Member JoAnne Rogers has won $1,000 for her favorite charitable organization, the Eastview Baptist Church Food Pantry. Bowater Credit Union asked its members to nominate their favorite non-profit that helps people in the counties eligible for credit union membership: Bradley, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe and Polk. Eastview Baptist Church is the first winner of 2016.

“This church furnishes food for those who need it, preparing 42 hot meals a week,” explained Rogers. “They also pack and deliver 50 backpacks to two schools on Friday so these kids will have food on the weekend.”

According to Rogers, the organization’s funds come from their faithful members and a pastor who gives willingly to the program. Rogers stated that the church gives all they have to others in their community.

The Pay It Forward program will continue through 2016, and that means any member of Bowater Credit Union can nominate their favorite non-profit for a $1,000 Pay It Forward prize.  Four more prizes will be given out in 2016.  For more information, click the link below.

Bowater Credit Union began the Pay It Forward program in 2010 as a way to give back to the community it serves.  Since the program’s inception, Bowater Credit Union has given $29,000 to various charities that make difference in our community.
