Brody Lewis of Benton, Tennessee has been selected as this year’s recipient of Bowater Credit Union’s Annual $2,000 College Scholarship. In order to receive this scholarship, Brody competed against many other students who were evaluated based on grades, school activities, civic activities, and an essay on the importance of credit unions in the lives of young adults.

Brody graduated from Polk County High School and is studying aerospace engineering at the University of Alabama Huntsville. “We are proud to have Brody representing Bowater Credit Union and his community at the University of Alabama Huntsville,” said Kelsey O’Daniel, Marketing Director of Bowater Credit Union.

Brody’s winning essay summed up Bowater Credit Union’s mission, “own your financial future” so eloquently. “Credit Unions play a crucial role in the lives of young people as they navigate the complexities of adulthood and financial responsibility. By offering youth services that teach the importance of saving and money management from an early age, credit unions empower young individuals to develop a solid foundation for the future.” Brody has done a great job setting himself up to succeed in all his goals financially and in life which includes making it to space someday.
