Bowater Credit Union Member, Amy Blake, has won a $1,000 Pay It Forward prize for her favorite non-profit doing good in our area. She chose Got Her Covered located in Cleveland, TN.

Bowater Credit Union asks its members to nominate their favorite non-profit that helps people in the counties eligible for credit union membership: Bradley, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe, and Polk. Up to five $1,000 prizes are awarded each year and Got Her Covered is the second winner of 2023.

“Got Her Covered is a local nonprofit tackling period poverty in both Bradley and Polk County School Districts. Period poverty is a lack of access to menstruation products, education, hygiene facilities, waste management, or a combination of these. “Did you know that period products aren’t covered by SNAP or any other welfare program and access to these products is almost always overlooked? 1 in 5 menstruating females say they have missed school and/or work due to lack of access to something as simple and commonplace as period and hygiene supplies,” wrote Blake. Got Her Covered’s goal is to create a city/county with dignity, and health, and increase access to feminine hygiene care. They have been cultivating change in our area for the past decade. Got Her Covered will be using their $1000 to further their mission and impact the lives of so many females in our community.
